KidIQ ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of children and families who use our platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the KidIQ application and website (collectively, the "Service").

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other applicable data protection laws. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

Child Information (with parental consent)

  • Learning progress and assessment responses

4. AI and Data Processing

KidIQ uses artificial intelligence to personalize learning experiences. Our AI:

  • Analyzes learning patterns to adapt difficulty and content
  • Generates age-appropriate educational materials
  • Provides insights to parents about learning progress
  • Does NOT make automated decisions that affect children's rights
  • Does NOT share children's data with third-party AI models for training

5. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, rent, or share children's personal information with third parties for marketing. We may share data with:

  • Service providers: Hosting, email delivery, and analytics providers bound by strict data processing agreements
  • Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect safety
  • Family members: Teachers or co-parents you explicitly invite to your family

6. Parental Rights (COPPA)

Parents and guardians have the right to:

  • Review their child's personal information
  • Request deletion of their child's data
  • Refuse further collection of their child's information
  • Request that we stop using their child's information

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, secure password hashing, role-based access controls, and regular security reviews. Children's PINs are stored using bcrypt hashing and cannot be recovered.

8. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account or request data deletion, we permanently remove all associated data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for research purposes.

9. Changes to This Policy

We will notify parents of material changes via email before they take effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
